In November 2000 UNESCO included the Pantanal on the World Heritage List as a Biosphere Reserve. It is the largest wetland on the planet as well as the largest ecological sanctuary in terms of number of species of birds and fish.

The Pantanal contains 650 species of birds, 263 types of fish, 50 reptiles and 80 mammals as well as thousands of species of insects, exuberant flora and intense wildlife.

This huge ecosystem is divided into several watersheds (types of pantanals). The Paiagua watershed has one of the greatest varieties of native species of plants and animals.

And here is where we have developed one of the greatest ecotourism destinations in the world, spanning more than 300 miles of tracks along land, waterways, savannahs, rivers and lagoons in diverse types of recreation: 4x4 safari, horseback riding, tracking and many others.

The Pantanal of Paiagua also is home to the legitimate pantaneira culture with its everyday peculiar work and habits on its oldest farms which makes it the Unique Eco-cultural Travel on Earth.

So, Paiaguá Expeditions was created to promote susteinable development in this region by linking it to a few other great destinations in middle-western Brazil: Pantanal of Nhecolândia, Alcinópolis, The Monsoons Path, The Diamonds Village and also, of course, to other great brazilian destinations: Chapada dos Guimarães, Bonito and Iguassu Falls.”

Come and enjoy yourselves.
